SOLAR CONTROL GLASS EFFECTOR SUN EFFECT

Effector Sun Effect solar control glass

Facility designers are always seeking new façade materials, and glass has become very widely used in modern architecture. Houses, offices and public buildings are now overfilled with light, but with these high degrees of glass transparency comes the risk of overheating the interiors and the high transmittance of UV rays.

Architects who wish to avoid this need modern glazing solutions for façades. Effector Sun Effect solar control glass is the answer. This type of glass is manufactured by spraying metal or metal oxides on glass, which produces an ultra-thin coating of consistent appearance and superior optical performance.

There are three groups of solar control glass, which differ in appearance, manufacturing method and reduction level of sunlight: absorptive, reflective and selective glass.

Effector Sun Effect absorptive solar control glass:

The basic solution in the solar control glass range. The absorptive glass is body-tinted during the melting process. Available tint colours are: blue, brown, graphite and green, where each colour absorbs specific parts of the light spectrum. This glass uses absorption – so it becomes very hot due to absorbing approximately 50% of the solar energy, with the energy dissipated to the outside. This means that this type of glass is used as the outer pane within a glazing unit. Absorptive glass has a low degree of light reflection, slightly less than in the case of colourless float glass. Depending on the target energy balance for the entire glazing system, both pane colour and thickness must be selected properly, as the effect of absorptive glass increases with the thickness of the glass.

Effector Sun Effect reflexive solar control glass

Glass with the Reflex coating is a more advanced solution for solar control. The reflexive coating is applied to the glass during manufacturing. The purpose of this coating is to reflect visible light and sun light. Reflexive glass with different colours is often used to improve the aesthetics of a building or the surroundings (i.e. to obtain mirror imaging of the surroundings in the façade), and to reach the required energy balance.

Both types of solar control glass can be combined with other types of glass. By combining solar control glass with low emissivity glass or security glass within a glazing unit you can meet a very wide range of expectations of the users by creating all-in-one units, for effective protection against unwanted energy exchange during any season.

Effector Sun Effect selective solar control glass

Effector Sun Effect selective solar control glass has gained the greatest popularity lately due to its double degree of thermal insulation. In the past, glass with a selective coating could be distinguished from transparent glass by its blue shade. Now, glass is colourless and can only be identified using a special sensor that detects metal oxides in the glass pane. This includes body-tinted glass: blue, brown, grey and green. Multiple coatings with metal oxides allows the right reflective effects to be achieved, controlling the amount of sunlight and limiting the solar energy entering the rooms, as well as ensuring good thermal performance. A glazing unit made of selective glass is filled with argon, which improves the thermal insulation properties by approximately 20%.

ADVANTAGES of Effector Sun Effect solar control glass:

  • High degree of freedom in use, both in terms of architectural and technical solutions.
  • Reduced costs of operation, particularly in industrial buildings by reducing the costs of cooling.
  • More comfortable rooms and thus friendlier temperature levels, even during a hot summer.
  • Solar control glass can stop between 50 and 76% of the solar energy, so that you get excellent protection against the sun.
